Tales From Sip And Go Girl: “Eric”

By: Sip and Go Girl

Eric and I arranged to meet at a slightly upscale restaurant and bar for a drink.

For me, it was merely Tuesday. For him and the rest of the United States, it was Valentine’s Day.

He worked as a counselor at a medical facility and was friendly and slightly charming, although he asked me more than once what I thought of his physical appearance. He was dressed nicely but beyond that I had little to say.

He then shocked me by saying he had made dinner reservations for 9:00p.m. I had planned only for a drink and then to go home.

The host took us to our table. Eric decided he wanted to order from the special Valentine’s Day menu.

At this point I began to really worry. I hadn’t planned on paying for a meal that looked like it would cost more than $100. Even more troubling was the possibility he would want to pay the entire bill. I would feel guilty for him buying that kind of meal for me and didn’t want to lead him on.

At the end of the nearly three hour meal, the check came and I immediately offered to pay half.

He immediately agreed. I spent nearly $80.

I did agree to go out with him again.

In between those dates he sent me messages saying nothing other than how much he hated his job.

The final and fateful date, we went to a sports-type restaurant/ bar. he again asked me what I thought of his physical appearance. He was dressed nicely but beyond that I had little to say.

Halfway through the meal he told me, “I need you to pay half.”

After dinner, he walked me to my car and suddenly leaned in to kiss me.

Lift your arm to your lips right now and quickly kiss your forearm. That was what it was like to kiss him.

I decided this was the end of me and Eric. It just wasn’t happening for me.

The next day I sent him a message saying thank you but no thank you. I decided this was not a relationship I want to pursue and I wanted to move on.

He freaked.

He sent angry and shocked messages demanding why. I told him all he did was complain about work and that I was not attracted to him.

OMG! What?? Sip and Go Girl no!

He called me immediately. I was at work and did not answer. He left a message.

“What?? How can you say that? Everyone complains about work. It’s what people do. I know you were attracted to me. Sip and Go Girl, when I kissed you I could feel your heart.”

I heard from him often for two or three days. He protested and demanded to know more.

Beyond that I had little to say.
