One Man’s Divorce Celebration

My friend and former TV news coworker Michael posted this pic on his Facebook page. No, this is not Michael’s vehicle nor does it belong to anyone he personally knows. He writes, “co-workers spotted this car.”

Tales From Sip and Go Girl: “Christopher”

You’ve met Pinocchio. He’s the main character from the 1940 Disney animated film. He also has roots in an Italian story from the 1880s.

I’ve also been friends with him.

His name is Christopher.

I’ve known him more than three years. We share an activity together and similar career interests.

I discovered the subterfuge too late after I tried to help Christopher.

Not Special Enough

I was watching TV more than one year ago and ran into the movie “Terms of Endearment.” I’ve never seen the 1983 tearjerker and decided this might as well be the night.

I’m glad I watched it because I got a great line of dialogue from Shirley MacLaine’s character Aurora. She delivers it to her daughter Emma played by Debra Winger. Emma is planning on getting married and her mother decidedly does not agree with the decision nor the spouse choice.

You are not special enough to overcome a bad marriage.

How A Husband Will Show Me Love

Are you married? If not, do you want to get married? Why not read a book on marriage or on relationships? Invest into becoming a great girlfriend or wife can make a tremendous difference on how you relate to that special someone in your life.

I am single and yes I want to get married but I understand the concept of becoming the One instead of just waiting for One. Therefore I often find myself reading books on the subject.

Seeking Closure

Closure. It’s something many of us seek after a relationship has ended. But not all of us find it.

Until a few days ago, I thought I was one of the lucky few who has slowly but surely tied up the loose ends of my past and moved forward. Again, that was up until a few days ago. That’s when my college boyfriend starting following me on Twitter.

Sounds harmless because we broke up five years ago. But the move is significant when you know his now-fiancee’ banned him from contact with me about two years ago and we ended our rocky five-year college relationship on not-so-great terms.

Does Same Sex Marriage Have To Be Gay?

One of my university colleagues posted a provocative question on his Facebook page. Scott was inspired by recent debates and laws about same-sex marriage and asked the following:

For your consideration. Does same sex marriage have to be “gay?” Considering the number of sexless and marriages of convenience, could two persons of the same sex be married and not gay?

Scott’s questions led to a robust conversation.

Jillian: You mean could two people not have sex and still be or want to get married? Yes. Being gay isn’t solely predicated on who you have sex with, but attraction and love.

Art: I was married for about 12 years. It was the same sex most of the time.

You Might Create The Break Up You Fear

I hear about jealous people who creep around their significant others’ phones or Facebook pages looking for evidence their fears are true.

I get jealous just like other people, but I have NEVER been a creeper looking for dirt about my main guys in my life.

I found the following question and answer on a therapy website. I am not a licensed therapist:

Question-  I’m having problems in my relationship because of my jealousy and trust issues with my boyfriend. We have been together for a year and 1/2. Ever since my past relationship I have a hard time trusting men and it has been drilled in my head that all men cheat.

Sharing Sweet Blessings

In my world, it only takes vanilla soft serve for me to feel happy, alive and connected to others.

I spent the day solo. After a busy week, it was a little strange to have an entire day alone. As much as I like being alone, I also love being around people.

So, by 6:30p.m. I was on edge. And because I had a massive craving for something specifically sweet, I left my apartment for the coolness of Dairy Queen.

They have a newish tasty delight called Peanut Butter Bash. It’s vanilla soft serve covered in a peanut butter sauce, chocolate sauce, and bits of chocolate. Oh it is quite good.
