It’s The Thought That Counts

If you spent a ton of money for Valentine’s Day, I’m here to tell you that you may not have had to do that for the holiday or any day.

It truly is “the thought that counts.”

My ideas won’t work for everyone. There are females out there who are very materialistic and want big or pricy things. If you feel comfortable enough in your relationship to spend $60 to $120 on a dozen roses, you probably know her well enough to know this is what you want and should do.

I do believe that Valentine’s Day is probably the best day for the big Proposal, but a dozen red roses is too typical. Every place sells them. There are grocery stores and endless roadside stands with red and pink teddy bears and balloons too. These are just items that can be purchased last minute because someone reminded you it was Valentine’s Day and society tells you that you need to get something for someone.

Yes these are all great gifts and we women do greatly appreciate them, but they just didn’t require a lot of thought. What we really want is something that says, “hey, I thought about you today.” And that can come any any price. You just have to be creative.

I do realize that thinkingis something you are probably trying to avoid, but it’s not that hard. You don’t have to do an intense hunt for the perfect gift. But in the weeks leading up to Valentine’s Day or any special day, no matter what you are doing, where you are, or who you were with, just keep an eye open to something that makes you think of your loved one.

One of the best gifts I ever received was a single red rose. My boyfriend at the time told me, “The waitress was walking around selling these, and I thought of you.”

I’m the type of person who is not big on cut flowers. They’re just going to die in a week. What’s the purpose? Yes, I do like flowers. I just prefer them attatched to their roots.

Lowes & Home Depot have some of the cutest gifts for a lot less than $60. Recently I saw a ladybug pot with a mini rose bush. I just fell in love with it and would have rather received that as a gift.

It’s only $6. Yes that’s right. I’ll say it again. It’s only $6.

Walgreens and CVS always have cute things, but who says it has to be chocolate or roses? Be different.

Do you know of something she has wanted? Someone once named a star for my sister and she received several mini dragon statues over the years simply because the guy knew that’s what she liked.

Also, you don’t have to wait for holidays like Valentine’s Days or even birthdays or Christmases.

We just want something to let us know you that we are still on your mind.

Proving that Valentines Day is a fabricated “holiday” for women. If Valentines Day were created for men, we’d have a bowl game or automobile race to celebrate it.
