Nothing Hotter Than A Woman Firing A Weapon

One morning I was watching NBC’s Today Show and there was a story about an Olympic gold medal skeet shooter. A friend of mine said, “There’s nothing hotter than a woman firing off a weapon.” And it made me think…….

I used to go camping on the San Francisco River in eastern Arizona. One of our traditional events was trap and skeet. We used to follow a dirt path to a high bank of the river where we would throw and shoot clay targets across it. It was a game. The 20 gauge shotgun held three shells. You got three chances to hit your target. The loser had to carry the launcher back and it wasn’t easy. It was a metal thrower mounted on a tire.

One year when we got to the bank and there were a couple of hot guys fishing a few feet down the river from us. Like that didn’t put any pressure on the game.

I loaded the three shells in the gun, pumped it, propped it up against my shoulder and held my breath. They were watching.

“Pull,” I yelled.

The bright orange target flew across the water. I lined it up with the end of the gun and squeezed the trigger. When I lowered the gun I glanced across the river. I did not see the target lying in the sand.

“Did I hit it?”

Everyone said I did. Whew, one down and two more to go.

On the second shot the target shattered in the air more than the first. I was able to see that I hit it.

Anyway, two down and one more to go. I was happy at this point. That was enough to impress the guys. But I was still a nervous wreck.

When the third target flew, I fired and it also shattered into the river. Three for three!

That has been the only time I got a perfect score.

I handed off the gun, stepped back, and took several deep breaths.

Back in the present day, when my friend pointed out how hot it was for a female to shoot a gun it made me realize I never looked back at the hot guys fishing down stream. I never thought of what they might be thinking.

All I could think of at the time was how I didn’t make myself look like a total idiot by missing those targets.

That was probably a good opportunity lost.
