In spring 2005, the story broke about a woman in Georgia who vanished around the time of her wedding. Law enforcement launched a nationwide search. The woman, Jennifer Wilbanks, eventually called her fiance from New Mexico and claimed she had been attacked and kidnapped.
While police were talking with her, Wilbanks admitted where was no abduction and no attack. She had been overwhelmed by her upcoming wedding.
My then-husband Steve said, “Well I’m not surprised. Look at her. She has crazy in her eyes.”
I didn’t see it at first. Now, after looking at this picture all the time in the media, I can see what he meant. And I see it all the time in people, but mostly in photographs.
The idea is that the person looks like he or she is staring wild-eyed, but the person is merely looking like he or she normally would.
I contacted Steve the ex to elaborate. “If you ever see the white above the pupil/ iris, then you are dealing with crazy.” He sent this photo via text to give me more evidence. This is also Wilbanks:
I most recently used the concept with someone who had started dating a woman who could only meet him for, like, 30 minutes at a time and at the last minute. She ran super hot and cold. We looked her up on Facebook and I saw her profile pic. “RUN,” I told the gentleman in question. “She has crazy in her eyes.”
I also saw it three years ago in pics of another friend’s wife. She was smiling in the pics, but she had that wide-eyed look. I held my tongue that time.
Steve also tells me there’s a deeper connection to crazy. “(There’s) the baggage we pick up through life. (There’s a) Pandora’s Box we open if we don’t notice that crazy in their eyes.”
What do you think? Do you see it in pics? Do you have other examples for me?
I wish I’d known about this before I met my last girlfriend. She scarfed down a super sized bowl of crazy every day.
