Speaking The Truth?

Each day we have a choice to make about speaking the truth to friends, family, and other people around us.

Is there such a thing as degrees of lying? Is there such a thing as a fib? Why do we call it a little white lie? Do we call it that to make it seem like it’s okay and acceptable?

Jiminy Cricket: Let him be your conscience when you lie

I would have to say that, yes, I have called my boss and faked being sick. No, I haven’t lied about how late I slept.

Some people say that it’s necessary to lie to protect themselves. Purposely omitting information to make yourself look good? Well that’s just selfish.

Sometimes we make things so complicated and feel a need to be perfect. Therefore we lie and deceive others to believe what we want them to believe. These are my observations.

Please tell me your thoughts! I would love to hear your thoughts!

Truth is often a matter of opinion, so a lie can be told quite easily. Is omitting a piece of information form a story, or not volunteering relevant information, lying?
I asked a coworker of mine, “Who ever said that lying is the wrong thing to do, if is spares someone’s feeling a little”? She responded, “The Bible says that we shouldn’t lie”. “Oh”, I countered, “This is taken from a book that has a lot of unsubstantiated and unproven stories. Does that make it all a lie?” I didn’t get an answer on that one.
