Follow The Rules Or Follow Your Heart?

I was sitting with a coworker recapping her busy weekend. She just recently started hanging out with a new guy and so far things are going great. She’s happy, excited and just plain smitten. I haven’t seen her smile this much in months.

She was sitting relaxed in her office chair, looking up with a smile as she recounted each event with diligent accuracy to make sure she didn’t miss any detail. But she suddenly stopped and said, “It was a perfect weekend, and I’m really happy. But I did something bad. I broke the rules.”

Is “Mr. Right Now” Worth The Effort?

Different people have different reasons for dating.

Some are just looking for a good time, others are looking for their potential husbands or wives.

Why put effort into a dating relationship if it doesn’t lead to a wedding dress?

Still others are just out to satisfy their… well, let’s just call them urges.

Tales From Sip And Go Girl: “John”

John was never a sip and go because John was never a date. I turned down his invitation to a school dance when I was 15-years-old.

My high school had a semi-formal school dance called Casaba. It is not named after the melon. It’s a blend of the words “Casa” and “basketball.” “Casa” was part of my high school’s name.

The event is essentially the school’s basketball homecoming and happens every January. The week’s festivities include basketball games and decorating four hallways for each class– freshman, sophomore, junior, and senior.

My sophomore year, I hadn’t thought much about attending the dance. I was more concerned with my work on the yearbook staff and how I could get on the staff of the community newspaper.

Falling In Love On The First Date

Going on a date is not a big deal. And it bugs me when people make it a big deal.

It’s a gathering of two people to talk and see if there’s a romantic spark or at least the ability to tolerate each other enough to do it again. It’s not an occasion to send out a press release.

Those who think the first date is a HUGE deal are on their way to Taylor Swift Town. This is the “town” where people get way too invested in the outcome of the date and make the relationship a bigger deal than it needs to be.

Please stop singing about someone you barely dated, Taylor Swift. You’re making dating seem like a HUGE deal.

I was reading message boards in the last couple months as singer and songwriter Taylor Swift started getting a lot of press coverage for her autobiographical songs that focus on some man (or boy) who she supposedly dated.

Taylor Swift Is Never Ever Getting Back Together

The Grammy Awards were on television the other night and the Internet was abuzz the next day with pics and stories about winners, clothing, songs, speeches, and other bits and pieces that make up an event at which thousands of people in the music industry reward each other for work well done.

Some of the chatter revolved around 23-year-old musician Taylor Swift and her opening performance of “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together.” At about 2:10 into her performance, she has a spoken bridge where, in the Grammy version, she adopts a British accent.

The word on the so called street aka Internet is that Swift was mocking 19-year-old Harry Styles, a singer with the British band One Direction. Apparently, the singers had gone on a few dates.

This opened the flood gates of Swift Bashing.

Slow Down Buddy

I was out to dinner with my friend Justin late last summer when he made a big announcement.

“I’ve met someone.”

If I remember correctly, he told me he met her through a mutual friend. Justin then began to talk about how she had recently moved into a new home. He was helping her set up the place and had given her a DVD player as a gift.

DVD player perhaps like one woman’s gift from her new man…

Taking A Dating Hiatus

When my ex Steve and I parted ways officially and legally, he told me that I wouldn’t be alone for long. “You’re quite a catch,” he said.

That was nearly three years ago. I’ve been busy dating and had two boyfriends in that time. But I am going on hiatus.

What does that mean?

That means Sip and Go Girl has stopped dating. » Read more..

A Date Means Wearing Lipstick

When I was in high school, Dennis asked me to go to the Beach Boys concert. It was 1988 and the band was touring to promote its new album. This was the album with the song Kokomo from the movie Cocktail.

I was wearing white loafer type shoes, jeans, and a peach sweater. My hair was as it always was in 1988. I did nothing more than wash it, comb it, and let it dry naturally. I did not use hair product beyond a tiny bit of mousse and I certainly hardly ever wore makeup.

Why Selling On Craigslist Is like Dating

By: On the DL

Like many twenty-somethings, I borrowed money through college and grad school. I was fortunate enough to get several scholarships, but I still had to take out several private and government loans to pay my way. Thanks Uncle Sam! Unfortunately, I didn’t realize at the time that it would mean more than $65,000 in debt! Let’s just say if I lost my job tomorrow, I’d be in BIG trouble.

The Start Of Sipping And Going

By: Sip and Go Girl

So what is “What is sipping and going?”

Six months after my divorce was final, I decided to start dating again. I desperately wanted the distraction and diversion after a rough time in a marriage and rough time during a divorce.

I did not want to mine my workplace or any other area of my life for a date. So I threw a profile up on an online dating site and logged off the computer. When I checked a couple days later, I had dozens of emails. It was easy. I had a date!
