It’s a saying we’ve all heard at one point or another, and it can relate to a variety of situations:

  • job prospects
  • personal life choices
  • relationships
  • you name it

I’ve followed that advice all my life. I plan everything I can and try to have at least one or two alternative plans just in case that first one doesn’t work.

Sometimes all I want is information.

I was job hunting and applied for two different public relations-type positions at a medical center.

I had been on a sip and go nearly a year before with a man who worked as that medical center’s Director of Radiology and Imaging Services. After three months had passed and I hadn’t even received an automated generic rejection from the hospital, I sent an email to the radiology guy I had met more than a year prior.

Yeah Yeah Don’t Sweat The Small Stuff

My ex owned the book called “Don’t Sweat the Small Stuff.”

I flipped through the pages of Richard Carlson’s book once or twice and read some nice advice including “Remember that when you die your in-box won’t be empty” and “Become more patient.” But I never considered myself a person who sweated the small stuff and thus I really didn’t dig into the book with gusto.

Turns out, though, that when facing certain trials I am indeed one of those people who sweats the small stuff.

Me And Relationships: Back To The 1980s

I really like hearing about the ins and outs of relationships. I mean I really do.

My interest was piqued in the last three years while I was going through a separation and divorce. The marriages and partnerships of those around me were things to ponder.

Wait.

Actually I can go back to the early 1990s to see my interest in relationships. In 1992 I broke up with my first real long-term boyfriend and then began to pursue not one but two cooks working at the same restaurant as me. Then, one of my coworkers came out to me and me only and I began hearing about his adventures with same-sex dating. Life was so fascinating.
